Full Itinerary

DAY 1 Nairobi

Touch down in Nairobi, where you will be met by your local Born Free host and escorted to your hotel for the evening.

Fairview Hotel

DAY 2 Karen

Wake up in friendly Kenya and have a delicious breakfast at the hotel. Meet your professional guide, board the safari vehicle and you are off for a full day of wildlife experiences. Visit the AFEW KENYA Giraffe Center, a charitable non-profit organization formed by Betty Leslie-Melville to save the Rothschild giraffe. Here you will be able to meet these wonderful creatures eye to eye. Continue to the Sheldrick Wildlife Orphanage, a project that brings orphaned elephants and rhinos in from the bush and raises them until they are ready to be released back into the wild. We will visit during elephant bathing time. Head back to the hotel, and later, a fantastic dinner at the famous Carnivore restaurant.

Fairview Hotel (Breakfast, Dinner)

DAY 3 & 4 Samburu National Park

Head out on safari! Drive north to the Northern Frontier District and Samburu National Park. The vegetation is typically dry grass, with a few swampy patches. Your guide will search out the rare the Grevy’s zebra and Reticulated giraffe, species not commonly found in the south. Elephant, black rhino, lion, buffalo and cheetah and the usual buck and antelopes are all common to see, and crocodiles can be seen in the river from the lodge.

Samburu Simba Lodge (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

DAY 5 Mount Kenya National Park

Head out after breakfast through the dry regions of Northern Kenya, making your way towards the lush greens lands of the Central Highlands. This area is home to Mount Kenya, the highest mountain in the country, and Mount Kenya National Park. Arrive at your hotel just in time for lunch. This afternoon, travel on to a tree hotel, where your time is spent comfortably watching the forest animals that come to the hotel’s waterhole and to the salt lick. In the early evening the waterhole is lit so you are able to watch, in silence and undercover, as night falls and the large and small animals come to drink.

Serena Mountain Lodge (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

DAY 6 Lake Nakuru National Park

Continue south this morning into the Great Rift Valley and Lake Nakuru National Park. Lake Nakuru, an alkaline lake, is the breeding ground for the algae on which the thousands of flamingos feed. The park is also home to buck and antelopes, leopard, the Burchell’s zebra, Rothschild giraffe and Cape Buffalo.

Sarova Lion Hill Lodge (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

DAY 7 & 8 Masai Mara Game Reserve

Excitement lies ahead as you travel down the Great Rift Valley to Kenya’s most famous park, the Masai Mara Game Reserve. An afternoon game drive will familiarize you with the variety of game animals and bird life in this beautiful park. It is home to the highest concentration of animals and birds anywhere on the continent. Throughout the year the Mara is a place of natural drama, a kaleidoscope of color and life. The famed “Big Five” – Elephant, Rhino, Lion, Buffalo and Leopard – roam the reserve, together with hundreds of others, including the Cheetah and the Bat-Eared Fox. For most of the century the Mara has drawn those searching for adventure, and the thrill is still the same today, with days spent face-to-face with nature at its most untouched and enthralling.

Mara Serena Lodge (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
