Full Itinerary

DAY 1 Arusha

A warm Born Free welcome awaits upon your arrival in Tanzania. Our local host will escort you to the lodge. Time for a good night’s sleep before your exciting adventure begins tomorrow!

Olasiti Lodge

DAY 2 Lake Manyara National Park

The Born Free guide wishes you a cheerful “good morning” before you board the 4×4 vehicles and take off on safari! Head out on a 2 hour drive for Lake Manyara National Park. Ernest Hemingway called this “the loveliest place I have seen in Africa”. It is a small park with five different vegetation zones and a variety of wildlife, including giraffe, elephant, baboons and lion. Continue driving up the Great Rift Valley Wall to Karatu for the evening.

Plantation Lodge (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

DAY 3 Ngorongoro Crater

Today holds more excitement as you descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, the largest undamaged caldera in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is estimated that more than 30,000 animals can be found within the crater walls at any one time, making for spectacular game viewing. It is home to the largest non-migratory populations of wildlife in East Africa, including prides of lion, the rare black rhino, elephant, cheetah, antelope, great herds of Cape buffalo and so many more. Explore the forest areas, where the monkeys live; the lake area, where you may see the beautiful flamingos; and the open savannahs, where the majestic lions hunt for food. Return to your lodge, perched on the crater rim, in time for dinner.

Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

DAY 4 Central Serengeti National Park

This is the Africa you’ve been imagining! The 10,000 square mile Serengeti is the most famous wildlife sanctuary in the world, and its vast plains play host to the Great Migration of millions of wildebeest, zebra and other grazing wildlife. The area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, never ceases to amaze. Massive islands of granite, grassy plains, an acacia savannah, woodlands, and a range of mountains support the thousands of species you may encounter. Born Free’s game viewing is always unlimited and we will take you to the best areas of the park. Each day will be a surprise as the daily wildlife routine unfolds – however, there will be nothing routine as far as what you see!

Mbuzi Mawe Tented Camp (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

DAY 5 – 6 Western Serengeti National Park

Travel on today to the Western Corridor of Serengeti National Park, in search of your favorite species. Spend two nights here, taking morning and afternoon game drives.

Mbalageti Tented Camp (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

DAY 7 – 11 Selous Game Reserve

Fly from the Serengeti to the awe-inspiring Selous Game Reserve. This area is vast, pristine and largely undiscovered. Four times the size of the Serengeti and the size of Denmark, there is plenty of land to explore! On touch down you are met by the host guide and head out into the Selous Game Reserve, one of the largest areas set aside for wildlife preservation in the world. The Selous has both East and Southern African wildlife, both resident and migratory, and over 440 species of birds. The waterways of the Rufiji River Delta attract elephant herds, hippos, and crocodile.

Rufiji River Camp (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

DAY 12 Dar Es Salaam And Your Journey Onward

Bid farewell to the Tanzanian bush and fly back to Dar es Salaam this morning. Upon arrival you will connect to your international departure.
