South Africa

DAYS 1 – 3 Johannesburg – Kapama Game Reserve

Touch down in beautiful Africa! After clearing Immigration, collect your luggage and proceed through customs. You will then board a scheduled flight to Hoedspruit Airstrip in Kruger National Park. A camp guide will meet you at the airstrip and escort you on to Kapama Private Reserve, and your camp for the next 3 nights, Kapama Karula. While here you will enjoy twice daily game drives with experienced rangers in open 4×4 safari vehicles, and bush walks to get up close and personal with nature.

Kapama Private Game Reserve occupies a vast area between the northern Drakensberg Mountains and the Greater Kruger National Park. It is the largest single-owner game reserve in the region, and is perfectly situated to receive guests flying into Eastgate Airport (Hoedspruit). Kapama’s 13000 hectares has all the big game of Africa with 42 mammal species and approximately 350 bird species. This equates to huge natural diversity and includes the famed ‘Big 5′ – lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino. Game drives are conducted through the rolling savannah grasslands and riverine forests that make up this appealing African reserve.

Accomodations: Set on the banks of the perennial Klaserie River lays one of Africa’s most prestigious camps. The seven luxury tents, five exclusive suites including two luxury family suites make up Kapama Karula – “the place of peace”. The river glides smoothly through the camp, forming sparkling pools that attract smaller riverine animals and a myriad of birds in every seasonal birders paradise.

DAYS 4 – 8 Cape Town

Bid farewell to the bush as you board a flight to Cape Town where you will spend the next four days. You will collect a rental car at the airport and drive on to your hotel. If needed, you can rent a GPS unit along with your car.

These four days are yours to explore Cape Town as you please. Cape Town is the city on everyone’s lips. Where Sydney and San Francisco were once rated the new world’s most desirable destinations, Cape Town, with its scenic beauty and vibrant lifestyle, has now taken over. Table Mountain, Clifton and Camps Bay beaches, the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, Robben Island… the list goes on and on. Some of our favorite touring suggestions:

Table Mountain Cableway – not to be missed (weather permitting). There is a spectacular view from summit which also has hiking trails.
Victoria & Alfred Waterfront – Shops, restaurants and cafes in central Cape Town
Robben Island – Just off the coast of Cape Town, this is where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned.
Greenmarket Square – Open-air flea market, since 1710, in the heart of Cape Town. Good if you like antique shopping/junk shopping!
Bo-Kaap Museum (Bo-Kaap District) – A cultural experience not to be missed.
South African Museum
CAGE SHARK DIVING AVAILABLE AT ADDITIONAL COST

Clarendon Bantry Bay (Breakfast)

DAY 9 Wine Country

You will meet your driver this morning, then drive towards the Cape Winelands, stopping as you please. You’ll drive through the Cape Peninsula, including Cape Point – a magnificent coastal area (similar to Big Sur) with great little fishing villages with antique shops, cafes and a penguin colony. Your final destination tonight is the charming Winelands village of Stellenbosch.

Accommodations for the next two nights are at Bonne Esperance, a beautiful and centrally located Victorian villa with just 15 rooms.

Bonne Esperance (Breakfast)

DAY 10 Johannesburg

Enjoy breakfast this morning, and take a stroll through the scenic Stellenbosch town. Today is at your leisure. This afternoon you will be picked up and driven back to Cape Town International Airport to board your flight to Johannesburg. Upon arrival, take the airport shuttle to your hotel and tuck in for some shut eye. Tomorrow more adventure waits!

Peermont Metcourt (Breakfast)

DAY 11 Victoria Falls

You’re off on your adventure today as you catch the complimentary hotel shuttle back to the Johannesburg International Airport for your flight to Victoria Falls. Our local representative will be happy to help you with your luggage and take you to the Elephant Camp which is within easy reach of the Falls and other attractions and activities.

DAY 12 Victoria Falls

Victoria Falls constitutes one of the most spectacular natural wonders of the world. The Local people call it “Mosi-oa-Tunya,” or, “The smoke that thunders.” There is a magic about them manifested in the towering column of spray when the river is high, the thunder of the falling water, the terrifying abyss, and the tranquil lagoons upstream in which hippo and crocodiles lurk. The falls are 5,604 feet wide, making it the largest curtain of water in the world. It drops between 295 feet and 351 feet into the Zambezi Gorge and an average of 145,300,000 gallons of water plummet over the edge every minute.
