South Africa

DAY 1 Johannesburg

Upon arrival into Johannesburg, South Africa, you will be met and escorted to your hotel. Tonight you can relax, reorganize and get ready for a thousand new horizons!

DAY 2 Petoria And Mpumalanga

Meet your tour guide and fellow travelers, board our deluxe tour vehicle and head to Pretoria. Take a short orientation tour of South Africa’s capital city before continuing on through the beautiful countryside to Mpumalanga. The route drops several hundred feet into the lush subtropical Lowveld region, and passes through many historic towns.

DAY 3 Kruger National Park

This morning awake to the glory that is God’s Window, a boundless view of forested mountains and fertile plains. Then head to spectacular Blyde River Canyon, one of the natural wonders of Africa. Continue on to Hazyview and the Perry’s Bridge Hollow Lodge, a fun property with an incredible handicraft shop and on-site brewery!

DAY 4 Kruger National Park

After breakfast, meet the safari guide and board the open safari vehicle to search for the ‘Big Five’ (lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard) in Kruger National Park. This internationally renowned game park is home to an unsurpassed variety of African animal, plant, bird and insect life. It is a truly an enchanting place. The most frequently seen mammals are impala, zebra, giraffe and elephant.

DAY 5 The Kingdom Of Swaziland

Enjoy an enchanting drive to the tiny Kingdom of Swaziland, a former British Protection Territory, now ruled by King MsWati III. Take in a Swazi cultural experience before visiting the famous Ngwenya Glass Factory to see master craftsmen fashion collectible figures and functional art out of molten glass. We continue through the capital city, Mbabane, known for its vibrant markets packed with woven baskets, beadwork and carvings. Spend the night in the beautiful Ezulwini Valley.

DAY 6 The Kingdom Of Zululand

Spend the morning at one of the most interesting sites in the area – the Swazi Candle Factory, teeming with exquisite wax artworks in every shape and color imaginable. It’s not your ordinary candle factory! Then head on into Zululand, a magical area where you will pass traditional villages and endless vistas. Arrive mid-afternoon at the town of St. Lucia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to hippo, crocodile and no less than 367 bird species.

DAY 7 Durban

Explore Lake St. Lucia on a cruise before departing for Durban. The road hugs the lush KwaZulu-Natal coastline en route to Durban, and the sugar cane fields wave in the wind. Arrive at midday and the remainder of the afternoon is at leisure to explore Durban.

DAY 8 Port Elizabeth / Knysna

Morning at leisure in Durban before a mid-morning flight to Port Elizabeth (not included). Upon arrival, meet our coastal guide, board the vehicle and head south through the glorious, indigenous Tsitsikamma Forest. Overnight in Knysna, perhaps South Africa’s most visually stunning resort, located in the heart of the famous Garden Route.

DAY 9 Knysna

Cruise on the vast Knysna Lagoon and visit the Featherbed Nature Reserve. Enjoy an amazing view of the imposing sandstone ‘Heads’ which guard the sea entrance to Knysna’s huge tidal lagoon, and the forests, marshes and pristine beaches beyond. After lunch there is time for you to walk through the lovely town, visit the art galleries and handicraft shops, or just sit a café relaxing and sipping coffee or tea.

DAY 10 Oudtshoorn

Drive through spectacular Outeniqua Pass en route to Oudtshoorn, the ‘feather capital of the world’, so named because it’s the center of South Africa’s ostrich industry. After lunch, learn more about these hardy, enigmatic creatures during a tour of an ostrich farm. Then head underground for a fascinating tour of the Cango Caves, one of South Africa’s most incredible natural wonders.

DAY 11 Cape Town

A day of travel through the rugged coastal road to Cape Town. During the whale season, travel through the seaside village of Hermanus in the hopes of catching a glimpse of the southern right whales, which frolic offshore (July to November only). Out of season we will return to Cape Town along ‘Route 62′, South Africa’s version of America’s ‘Route 66′.

DAY 12 Cape Peninsula

Spend a full day touring of the beautiful Cape Peninsula via the Atlantic seaboard. Stop at the fishing village of Hout Bay, where you can opt to take a cruise to Seal Island to watch the antics of these natural performers. Continue to the Cape Point Nature Reserve before stopping off to see the lovable penguins at Boulders Beach. Drive through the quaint naval village of Simon’s Town on the way back to Cape Town.

DAY 13 Cape Winelands

Journey into the beautiful and tranquil Cape Winelands, visiting both Paarl and Stellenbosch before stopping for wine tasting at two well-known estates. A visit to the Huguenot Memorial Museum and the Afrikaans Language Monument provides a historical perspective.

DAY 14 Your Journey Onwards

Bid farewell to South Africa and transfer to the airport in time for your international flight onwards.
